摘要

This paper describes acoustic emission behavior of SA533B steels during fracture toughness tests at 23, -15 and -35 C. Results on AE measurements are summarized and discussed in reference to fractographic observations. Two distinct types of AE signals were recognized by means of waveform, rms voltage changes and amplitude distribution analysis. One type of burst emissions was associated with the formation of equiaxed dimples, while the other type appears to arise from microcracking, tearing, and possibly fracture of inclusions. (Author)
