Experimental Infection of Mixed Breed Dogs with 'Ehrlichia canis'.

摘要

Mixed breed, adult dogs were inoculated intravenously with Ehrlichia canis isolated from a dog in Peninsular Malaysia. Signs of disease included fever, weight loss, lymphadenopathy, corneal opacity, and pancytopenia. Of 3 dogs that died during the course of the study, one died with severe pancytopenia 78 days post inoculation, and hemorrhagic lesions were prominent in numerous organs. All inoculated dogs developed antibody to E. canis. (Author)
