This paper is concerned with the problem of strong slot injection into a subsonic laminar boundary layer at asymptotically high Reynolds number. The problem is formulated and the governing equations are presented within the context of triple deck theory. The linear problem, valid when the injection velocity is small, is solved analytically by Fourier Transform techniques. Graphical results are given for a wide range of slot lengths. A numerical technique for the nonlinear equations is presented and used to obtain solutions for various injection velocities. Separation is found to first occur downstream of the slot, where a recirculating flow bubble is formed. (Author)
