CYCLIC THERMOCHEMICAL PROCESS FOR PRODUCING HYDROGEN USING CERIUM-TITANIUM COMPOUNDS

A thermochemical cyclic process for producing hydrogen employs the reaction between ceric oxide and titanium dioxide to form cerium titanate and oxygen. The titanate is treated with an alkali metal hydroxide to give hydrogen, ceric oxide, an alkali metal titanate and water. Alkali metal titanate and water are boiled to give titanium dioxide which, along with ceric oxide, is recycled. (ERA citation 05:020228)
