Empirical Investigation of Organizational Effectiveness and Performance

摘要

A model for studying organizational effectiveness is proposed. Using the model, economic, behavioral, and attitudinal indicators of retail store performance were collected for a three year period. Predictors included: community buying power, local unemployment rate, organizational climate, and aggregate measures of the quality of store personnel such as training, education, and tenure. Predictors and criteria were multidimensional and stable over time. The results, however, were rather weak with R2 for predictor sets often being less than .10. It was concluded that effectiveness is multidimensional and multidetermined. And, that the relative strengths of relationships can vary depending on key situational factors such as industry and technology. (Author)
