Further results on The Application of Disturbance Minimizing Control Design Techniques to a linear, time-invariant state set-point regulator are presented using a second-order system as an example. A comparison is presented of performance obtained from a controller designed to minimize steady-state error versus one designed to minimize disturbance effects on error dynamics. Two examples are presented to illustrate regions of positive and negative disturbance utility. It is also shown that control energy expenditure can be reduced if use is made of external disturbances.
