摘要

Extremely basic, active sites were generated on MgO microcrystals (nearly amorphous) by thermally activating at 700 C under vacuum. Defect sites such as cation vacancies may be the active sites. Phosphorus compounds are strongly adsorbed and readily decomposed by this MgO. Spectral studies of adsorbed species and decomposition mechanisms are presented.
