Simplified Algebraic Grid Generation in Patched Mesh Systems

Some computational tools and techniques are described that are integrated into a simplified algebraic grid generation procedure. Major steps of such a procedure are also outlined. Tools include a general parametric cubic polynomial with parameter blending functions to define appropriate smooth families or coordinate curves, clustering functions of control nonuniform distribution of grid points, a tension spline and a technique for smoothly piecing in segments of coordinate orthogonality at boundaries. Composite grids generated via this approach for several complex external, internal and mixed flow geometries are shown to demonstrate the potential for wide application.
