摘要

The original objective of the work reported here was to develop computerized pyrolysis mass spectrometry techniques for detection of biological aerosol components in general and time-resolved Carbon dioxide laser pyrolysis MS methods in particular. Since laser pyrolysis methods require MS instruments with simultaneous ion detection capabilities, availability of a special miniature Mattauch Herzog MS system with electrooptical ion detector was an important element of the original proposal. Unfortunately, this system (funded by an independent DOD/University Instrumentation Program Grant) was never delivered due to bankruptcy of the manufacturer. Consequently, the work plan was focussed more strongly on the development of advanced chemical pattern recognition methods.
