Wave propagation in a fiber-reinforced laminated plate has been studied theoretically in this paper. Both cross-ply and angle-ply laminates have been considered. A stiffness method has been used to analyze the dispersion of waves propagating in arbitrary directions relative to the principal axes of each lamina. It is shown that the anisotropy of the laminate influences the dispersion characteristics in a significant manner. In addition, the effect of thin soft layers between the adjacent laminae has also been studied. This effect is found to be in lowering the cut-off frequencies and phase velocities.
