摘要

The electric field distribution in the cathode sheath of an electron-beam glow discharge has been measured and calculated. The electron yield of various cathode materials under helium ion bombardment has been measured. Current densities in excess of 10 amps per sq-cm have been generated from cold cathode glow discharges. The plasma of a pulsed high current density electron beam glow discharge has been characterized. Negative glow plasmas have been studied as electron sources for the generation of high current density electron beams. (jhd)
