Ecology and Environment, Inc., was retained by the USAFOEHL/TSS to provide technical and analytical services in support of the Air Force IRP. These services were supplied for the Phase II, Stage 1 investigation at Air Force Plant 38 (AFP 38), Porter, NY. The field investigation was conducted between 30 September 1986 and 8 October 1986, and involved work at seven sites. Two of the sites fell under RCRA jurisdiction and are described in a separate report. The investigation included record searches and sampling of surface and subsurface soils and surface water. Samples were analyzed for various parameters including metals, volatile organics, TOC, TOX, petroleum hydrocarbons, fluorides, nitrates, hydrazine, and isopropyl alcohol. Results of the investigation indicated that four of the five sites had only minor amounts of contamination present and have, therefore, been recommended for no follow-up action. The on-site fuel storage tanks and transformers were recommended for removal, according to applicable standards and regulations. (Hazardous materials).(MJM)
