摘要

The reaction of H2S(g) and adsorbed atomic oxygen on Pt(111) had been studied by SIMS, HREELS, and TPD. H2S(g) reacts completely at 96 K with 0.22 ML O(a) to give H2O(a) and S(a). The reaction rate shows no measureable temperature dependence between 96 and 135 K and under the conditions of this study, was equal to the flux of H2S. After a saturation dose of H2S on O(a)/Pt(111), only H2S, H2 and H2O desorbed in TPD. HREEL spectra provide evidence of water clustering when H2S exposure continues beyond the amount necessary for complete reaction of the adsorbed O atoms.
