Mechanical Evaluation of the Differential Drum Concept for Optical Fiber Pay-Out.

This report describes the design of a differential drum system for optical fiber pay-out. The critical design parameters, such as the stresses and deflections in high-speed machinery, are discussed and the equations that govern them are developed. These equations are then applied and two systems are designed which meet the requirements. (Author).
