摘要

Vapor phase diffusion and ion implantation provide versatile synthetic techniques for preparing spatially inhomogeneous n-CdSxSe1-x samples. The color coded nature of PL and EL from these materials and the susceptibility of the emission to perturbation by electric fields gives rise to novel electro optical effects: the spectral distribution can be altered by applied potential and can serve as the basis for patterned, multicolored emissive displays thorough the use of chemical and photoelectrochemical etching techniques.
