摘要

Conventional discrete sensors often introduce observation spillover which resultsin structural instability of undamped structural systems. One technique to prevent the observation spillover is to utilize spatially distributed modal sensors based on modal filtering concepts and orthogonal functions. In this paper, a modal filtering theory for a generic shell continuum, based on orthogonal functions, is derived. Application of the theory to distributed cosine convolving sensors for a circular ring structure is demonstrated. Effects of the distributed convolving sensors are evaluated. smart structures, piezoelectricity, vibration controls.
