摘要

We determined the following in GD-challenged animals: (1) influence of positionand orientation of cricothyroid cannula (CTC) on effectiveness of transtracheal ventilation (TTV); (2) optimal ventilation frequency for TTV with uncuffed CTC; (3) effect of methods of delivery, dosage, and time of administration of atropine on its efficacy; (4) the effect of inspired oxygen fraction on arterial oxygenation; (5) the comparative effects of GD on pulmonary mechanical properties during TTV in the canine and swine. Anesthetized animals were given 2LD50 GD intravenously (IV) over 3 minutes. TTV was done via an Omnicon CTC (8 gage). Atropine (1 to 4 mg) was given as either an infusion through a central venous line, an intramuscular bolus, or via nebulization through the CTC starting at 0, 4 or 8 minutes following start of GD administration. Animals surviving 1 hour received another atropine dose. Arterial blood gas composition, pulmonary ventilation, lung mechanical properties, and cardiovascular responses were measured serially.... Cholinesterase inhibitor, Atropine administration, Cricothyroid cannula.
