摘要

There is intense commercial interest in multi-phase polymer blends and alloysbecause of the potential opportunities for combining the attractive features of each material into one or improving deficient characteristics of a particular material. Recent reports have described the commercially attractive properties of nylon-ABS blends prepared via reactive processing with in-situ graft or block copolymer formation at the interface. The design of a functional compatibilizer capable of chemically reacting with the polyamide at the interface and is miscible with the styrene/acrylonitrile (SAN) matrix in the ABS material is believed to be critical in the effectiveness of such a compatibilizer. In this work we consider an imidized acrylic polymer with a controlled degree of functionality as a potential compatibilizer for the nylon/ABS system.
