Evaluation of a Transdermal Fentanyl System in the Dog

Transdermally-delivered fentanyl has been in use since 1989 for the relief ofchronic cancer pain and acute postoperative pain in humans. Animals share, potentially, the same benefits of transdermal fentanyl analgesia as humans. The goal of this study was to evaluate the Duragesic Transdermal Therapeutic System in dogs as a potentially useful means of fentanyl.
