BIO-EFFICACY OF NEEM SEED KERNEL EXTRACT AGAINST APHID AND DIAMOND BACK MOTH ON CABBAGE

Cabbage is an important cruciferous vegetable grown all over the country. The crop is prone for infestation by a number of insect pests consisting of sucking and defoliating insects at all the stages. Diamond back moth (DBM), Plutella xylostella Linnaeus and Cabbage aphid, Brevicoryne brassicae Linnaeus are among the most important and regular pests of cabbage. The present study was undertaken to find out the effective doses of NSKE for the management of cabbage pest complex. The present study was carried out at Instructional Farm, BCKV, West Bengal. Cabbage variety Green 608 were transplanted in a plot size of 3 x 4 m with 75 cm plot space, distance from plant to plant and row to row is 45 cm and 60 cm respectively. The result reveals that higher doses of Neem Seed Kernel Extract i.e., Tj NSKE @ 75 g + adjuvant~R 0.5 ml/lit has proved to be most effective with mean larval population of 59.88/plant compare to 61.55 to 83.89/pIant in the chemicals and 136.42/plant in the untreated check. However, all the insecticidal treatments were significantly superior to untreated check in minimizing the pest population. The cabbage yields recorded in all the insecticidal treatments were significantly higher than that of untreated control. In most of the casesefficacy of NSKE remains in the field up to 7 days.
