Trans Polymers Finalizing Financing For ?520-MM Port Qasim PE Plant

Karachi-Trans Polymers Ltd. (TPL) expects to complete financing arrangements for its planned ?520-million, 350,000-t/y polyethylene (PE) project near Port Qasim, Pakistan, by the end of this year, a local industry source told PCN. Pakistan's Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) earlier this year granted TPL an additional 12 months to achieve financial closure on the project (PCN, 22 Mar 2010, p 2). The ECC said it believes the investment is "crucial" for Pakistan's economy and will result in "substantial benefits" in terms of foreign exchange savings on the import of polymers and spinoff products.
