Statoil & BAL in Norwegian Partnership To Commercialize Seaweed-to-Ethanol

Oslo-Statoil and Bio Architecture Lab (BAL) said they have formed a wide-ranging partnership for the production of low-cost, renewable and sustainable ethanol derived from Norwegian seaweed. In the initial phase, BAL will develop the technology and process to convert the seaweed into ethanol, while Statoil will develop and manage the seaweed aquafarming operations and fund BAL's research and demonstration projects.
