Treatments comprising two rice cultures (transplanted and direct-seeded) as main-plot and seven weed control measures (penoxsulam @ 20 and 25 g ai ha~(-1), each applied at 10 and 15 days after transplanting-DAT/sowing-DAS, pretilachlor @ 750 g ai ha~(-1) as pre-emergence, along with weed-free and weedy checks) as sub-plot, were laid-out in a split-plot design with three replications. The results revealed that the lowest weed density, and dry weight and higher grain yield (4.861 ha~(-1)) were recorded under penoxsulam 24 SC @ 25 g ai ha~(-1) applied at 10 DAS/DAT due to higher weed control efficiency (69.67%). The pretilachlor @ 750 g ai ha'1 was found inferior to penoxsulam 24 SC @ 25 g ai ha~(-1) applied at 10 DAS/DAT but was at par with penoxsulam 24 SC @ 20 g ai ha~(-1) applied at 10 and 15 DAS/DAT. Herbicidal treatments provided a yield advantage of 65.98% to 72.63% over weedy check.
