摘要

Current charter agreements can mean that although shipowners xinvest in technologies and operational initiatives to reduce fuel consumption and air emissions, it is the charterer that reaps the financial reward as they are the ones who pay for the fuel. However, this situation is set to improve as the result of a new joint industry initiative that is being project managed by classification society DNV, with partners from the Norwegian offshore industry. Phase I of the Energy Efficiency Offshore Partners Project has identified a number of low-cost operational measures that could be implemented by shipowners in order to reduce fuel consumption. Phase II of the project, which includes participation from charterers, aims to suggest incentives that will enable such measures to be mutually beneficial. The p.roject is also looking to establish a framework for communication and best practice guidelines for both owners and charterers that will promote wider energy efficient operations.
