摘要

Several major operators in Canada's oilsands region could face a combined hit of almost C$500mn ($386.5mn) in foregone production revenue following Alberta's devastating wildfires in May, according to new research from energy analysts, writes Paul Harris, JWN Energy. Calgary-based CanOils estimates that it could take up to three months for full production to return to several oil and gas facilities in and around the community of Fort McMurray. Based on its study of 10 major projects affected by the fires, CanOils estimates lost, or foregone, production could eventually total 18mn barrels. This would equate to a pre-royalty value of C$500mn based on an approximate value of C$27.14/b for Western Canadian Select (WCS).
