Gas production grows a little as oil production slides

Oil production from the quoted companies in 2012 reacted to three major developments. The first was the return of large-scale Libyan production and its expansion towards pre-revolution output levels. The second was the very rapid build up of light tight oil (LTO) production in the US, most notably from the Eagle Ford and Bakken fields. Previously referred to as shale oil, LTO has had a significant positive influence on the companies with holdings in the fields. The third development was the nationalisation of YPF by the Argentine government (see Petroleum Review, June 2012).
