Total sees strength in targets

Total is sticking to its ambitious output targets,undeterred by its fail-ure to muster any growth since 2010. “We trust in our strategy,”chief executive Christophe de Margerie says. “Not to stick means you are weak.It means you did not believe in what you were saying just six months ago.” Total aims to increase output to 2.6mn b/d of oil equivalent(boe/d)in 2015 from 2.3mn boe/d last year,led by start-ups in Angola,Nigeria,the UK, Norway,Canada,Australia and Argen-tina in 2014-15.Total assumes that the Kashagan oil field offshore Kazakhstan will be producing in 2015 and that Abu Dhabi will renew the firm’s onshore Adco contract in a revised form at the start of 2015,but these account for less than 100,000 b/d of the target.Almost all of the projects needed to raise Total’s production capacity to 3mn boe/d in 2017 are on stream or under development,it says.
