Germany outlines Nord Stream conditions

German economy and energy minister Sigmar Gabriel is confident that Russian state-controlled Gazprom’s proposed 55bn m3/yr Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline project does not fall under EU third-party access rules. But he identifies three conditions, “which Gazprom already knows”, for the development to go ahead-rules must be adhered to, a “solution” for Ukrainian transit is needed, and Europe must have “secure and reasonably priced gas supply”.
