A patch of oil almost put a premature end to this ST170 but thanks to friends, family and a very generous man at Burton Power, Jonathan Morris' car is now a fully-fledged Time Attack weapon. Under most circumstances we would recommend avoiding patches of oil when driving at any speed, but for Jonathan Morris, owner of this now hard-revving race-prepped Mk1 Focus, the day he nearly came a cropper on a puddle of the black stuff was arguably one of the best things that could have happened to him. We're sure he didn't think so at the time of course, but then every big project car needs a moment of inspiration and if it wasn't for a bum-clenching 'off' on a patch of oil in 2006 there's a good chance this Focus would never have become the weapon it is today. And let's face it, that would have been a big shame because with 250bhp of raucous naturally aspirated Burton Power Zetec under the bonnet, the world needs more cars like this one.
