INFINEON ROLLS OUT FIRST SIC POWER CHIPS

Germany's Infineon Technologies AG is the first company to commercialize Schottky power diodes based on silicon carbide (SiC) technology.Compared with conventional silicon or gallium arsenide (GaAs) power diodes, SiC diodes operate at higher frequencies and significantly reduce switching losses. They also handle much higher voltages than silicon Schottky diodes.
