Bending stiffness is a critical property of paper and board. A theoretical model exists that estimates the bending stiffness of a symmetric three-ply paperboard based on the elastic modulus and thickness of the board layers. Although this model has been a useful tool for estimating bending stiffness, its use has been limited because of difficulties in controlling the variables.
