In 1993, Dr. Junyong Zhu joined the Institute of Paper Science and Technology, Atlanta, GA, serving first as an Assistant Professor and later as Associate Professor. In 2003, Dr. Zhu joined the U.S. Forest Service, Forest Products Laboratory, Madison, Wisc, where he is currently a scientific team leader in research and development in woody biomass utilization for sugar/biofuel, chemicals, fiber, and cellulose nanomaterials production. He also holds an Adjunct Professorship at the Dept. of Biological Systems Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has co-authored over 145 referred publications and is a co-inventor of 17 US patents and patent applications. In 2014, Dr. Zhu received the US Forest Service Deputy Chief for R&D's Distinguished Science Award for sustained research excellence.
