Fast learners: The University of York is balancing the parking needs of staff, students and visitors

University campuses are hives of activity. They attract students, staff, post-graduates, researchers and conference delegates in their thousands. At the University of York, the vast 64-hectare campus is used by 10,000 students, 2,700 staff and a wide array of visitors including conference delegates and concert-goers. The fact that many students and staff will - or want to - arrive by car poses a major challenge to the university's parking team. Parking policy for the University of York's campus is placed within the university's wider environmental objectives, as part of its "sustainable travel plan".
