Use of composted (Bio-earth) and non-composted (Filter cake) sugarcane residues showed significant reduction in number of galls and egg-masses of Meloidogyne incognita root-knot nematode on okra cv. Baladi. Plant growth parameters also increased as compared to untreated check. Due to the environment pollution caused by the use of pesticides, efforts have been devoted towards new approaches for nematode control. Of these, use of organic amendments and industrial composts have received major attention(Youssef & Amin, 1997; Aboul-Eid et al, 1998). The efficiency of organic amendments or composts varies depending upon the nature of organic matter, soil type, crop and nematode species. Experiments were carried out to compare the efficiency of new-composted (Bio-earth) and non-composted organic (Filter cake or mud) substances produced from sugarcane factory in the control of Meloidogyne incognita root-knot nematode on okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) cv. Baladi.
