The new ladle furnace of Eko Stahl is capable of treating heats of up to 240 t at reheating rates as high as 4℃/min. Alloying and stirring of the steel are also possible. A reduction of the production costs amounting to some 0.6 DM/t has beenachieved at the basic oxygen steelmaking plant.
