Elizabeth Tibbetts used to watch wasps. A lot. A biologist at the University of Michigan, Tibbetts spent hours in graduate school watching film of the insects and learning about meir behavior. She painted a color-coded dot on each wasp to tell them apart. "You use model airplane paint," Tibbetts told NPR's Adam Cole. "That's the gold-standard wasp paint."
