U.S. Contractors Set to Grow in 2014

General contractors in the United States plan to start hiring and adding new equipment in 2014, a recent study shows. A report released Jan. 21 from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) shows an optimistic business oudook among the nation's contractors, even amid concerns about worker shortages, rising materials costs and government policies that might hinder new construction. "Contractors are more optimistic about 2014 than they have been in a long time," said association CEO Stephen E. Sandherr in a statement. "While the industry has a long way to go before it returns to the employment and activity levels it experienced in the middle of the last decade, conditions are heading in the right direction."
