The present Government's policies as reflected in the Common Minimum Programme are focused towards the upliftment of rural India where a major proportion of India's population lives.All efforts are to focus on the development of rural infrastructure,housing,agriculture,roads and most importantly-education.All new taxation generally invites howls of protest but did you notice that there was no hue and cry on the levy of the education cess even though administrative management for the same has caused a lot of inconveniences.A sincere implementation of the educational and rural development programmes-if they don't get lost in the labyrinth of babudom-should really build up the backbone of the country resulting in the growth in demand for all products and this will directly result in the growth in paint demand whose per capita consumption is already on the lower side.With a population of over 1 billion and now with the focus on rural population which has a huge potential for paint consumption,the paint industry should prepare itself to encash the opportunity.
