For many years fire alarm system designers have been specifying smoke and heat detectors, before more recently combining multi-sensors (smoke, heat and CO detectors), as well as beam detectors and flame detectors, as the standard solutions to pretty much every application. Aspirating Detection Systems (ADS) are increasingly considered an alternative to these technologies as, in many cases, they have been proven to provide superior fire and smoke detection, greater resistance to false alarms and to be more cost-effective with regard to long term operation and maintenance.
