摘要

Although most of the public has accepted the Web as a social medium, medicine and dentistry have lagged far behind in the advantages of using the World Wide Web as a tool for improving not only the quality of medical and dental continuing education but also the value of a specific continuing education course to the individual practitioner. While the public readily relies on the opinion of others when making a purchasing decision, e.g., Amazon, Angie's List, eOpinion, etc., when a physician, dentist, or other health care professional attempts to determine which of the plethora of continuing education courses will be most relevant and most worthwhile, there is no such guide. There is, to date, no way for medical and dental professionals to determine which courses, which lecturers, and which sponsors continually provide continuing education that is worth the time and financial commitment, as well as provide education that is relevant to their individual learning needs and objectives.
