Walsh area family produces sweet potatoes and tobacco. Every farmer has experienced the wrath of Mother Nature and the summer of 2005 was no exception Crops were subjected to day after day of searing heat with no rainfall, which caused lots of disruption. Tobacco farmers had a late harvest with some finishing in mid-September, which meant supplemental crops had to be harvested at a later date also.
