Currently, there are global efforts to create combined processes of continuous casting and deformation, on account of the growing quality requirements on metal products and the need to reduce energy consumption, as well as the need to machine steels and alloys that are of low plasticity and difficult to deform. Anew unit for combined continuous casting and deformation [1] ensures high quality of cast products, thanks to the uniform structure and small grain size of the metal resulting from hammer deformation of the solidifying metal, with considerable reduction and specified accuracy, and also thanks to elimination of the longitudinal strip-thickness variation on account of a calibration section in the hammer walls of the mold and deformation within a narrow temperature range.
