Intelligent sacrificial anodes for protection of stainless steel and elimination of galvanic corrosion

摘要

Cathodic protection of stainless steel structures such as pipes, pumps and heat exchangers, has been successfully used as an alternative method for the prevention of localised corrosion of sea-water systems. Also galvanic corrosion, a major problem in seawater systems, can be eliminated by use of sacrificial anodes. This article describes a new development, sacrificial anodes have been provided with active circuit boards. Batteries are not required as the anodes themselves are the battery.
