This is the final report in a study to investigate the feasibility of using211u001egalvanic cathodic protection (CP) of reinforced concrete bridge members using 211u001esacrificial anodes attached by conductive adhesives. Galvanic CP systems have 211u001erecognized advantages of simplicity and the potential to operate with little or 211u001eno maintenance for the life of the system. But applications have so far been 211u001elimited to the seawater splash and tidal zone where concrete is moist and 211u001econductive, and where the anode surface is periodically wetted. In this study, a 211u001enew galvanic CP system was investigated in which sacrificial anodes were attached 211u001eto the concrete surface with ionically conductive adhesives called hydrogels.
