摘要

Because flames have to be adjusted to the combustion area of each glass melting furnace, it is important to be able to describe and characterize the flames. This can be done by the following five properties: flow, mixture, fuel conversion, heat release, and pollutant formation. These properties are listed in order of their influence on each other. The flow field influences the mixture of fuel and oxygen, and the mixture is responsible for the combustion process itself, which affects the heat release of the flame. Arranged at the end of this chain stands pollutant formation, which is influenced by most of the other flame properties but does not have a significant influence on the others.
