Kanebo has confirmed that 13,770 consumers in Japan have accepted settlement agreements after experiencing vitiligo-like skin blemishes from using its products. The cosmetics company faced a challenging year in 2013, after more than 19,000 consumers reported an adverse reaction manifesting in vitiligo-like symptoms - the development of pale or white patches - on their skin from the use of its rhododenol-formulated products. Rhododenol was an ingredient formulated by Kanebo itself.
