With IMHX 2016 fast approaching, SHD Logistics recently visited the Slough office of Mike Mathias, managing director of Toyota Materials Handling UK - which once again will occupy the largest stand at IMHX - to talk about his rise from the shop floor to running one of the UK's largest suppliers of materials handling equipment. We talk a lot about the how hard it is to attract young talent into our industry, despite the variety of rewarding careers we all know it can offer. In any industry sector, we see many examples of hard-working youngsters working their way up the ladder to positions of seniority. In the world of materials handling, the big need is for engineers, so when we talk about apprenticeships the focus is invariably on the need for this type of skill.
