I would like to welcome the journal readership to the third of 3 companion issues of Seminars in Arthroplasty dedicated to selected hip articles presented at the Spring 2011 Current Concepts in Joint Replacement meeting held in Las Vegas, Nevada. This issue provides commentaries from orthopedic thought leaders with recognized expertise in joint reconstruction.Contemporary insights into the cutting-edge science and clinical practice of hip, knee, and shoulder arthroplasty were presented to a large audience of orthopedic practitioners from 48 countries providing a relevant learning opportunity. You will find embodied in this issue case challenges, clinical reports, and commentary on evolving surgical techniques and technologies in hip reconstruction, with the previous companion issues focused on the knee and shoulder, respectively.The Current Concepts meetings began 28 years ago and have evolved into a unique forum for orthopedic surgical education particular to joint arthroplasty.
