Boxless vertical moulding systems are high-productivity machines. Where space is a consideration; access difficult, and cycle time short, visual inspections of the moulds can only be made at random if productivity compromises cannot be tolerated. As a consequence, occasional defects are not detected and most systematic defects only later so there is a risk that a large number of rejects is produced before the defect is detected.
