Viewing-Angle-Controllable Displays Using a Blue-Phase Liquid-Crystal Cell

摘要

Controlling the viewing angle of an LCD by a blue-phase liquid crystal (BPLC) cell is demonstrated. The BPLC layer can act like a tunable positive or negative C-plate depending on the dielectric anisotropy of the host LC composite. This approach works equally well for all the wide-view LCDs.
